The Future of Higher Education in Australia

Assistant Professor Deborah Churchman attended the recent national conference of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) national conference.

The conference included discussions on the future of higher education in Australia. Concepts such as a national skills passport were discussed along with the new to improve recognition of prior learning processes and to provide more support for students having financial difficulties.
TEQSA provided a set of its priorities for 2024 and beyond including:

  1. Artificial Intelligence and integrity and
  2. The need for institutions to have a dynamic and proactive approach to use of AI.

Assistant Professor Churchman is keen to have one or more AIAT students attend next years conference.

AIAT is accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) of the Australian Government. We also collaborate in the areas of business and technology with the Future Skills Organisation – a Jobs and Skills Council funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. Additionally, we are an Educational Member of the World Design Organization (WDO) – an organisation with a United Nations Special Consultative Status, and we are members of the Forbes Technology Council. We are partners with the UK-based education consultancy, Mind Makers, for a joint development and delivery of bespoke AI-focused Executive Education. We are also partners of the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA) – an organisation founded by the City of London Police and the Manhattan District Attorney of New York State. With them we collaborate on projects sponsored by the Mastercard Foundation (e.g., Cybersecurity Toolkit for Small Businesses) and Amazon (e.g., CyberFlex). We are also pleased to collaborate with Microsoft on the introduction of new learning experiences via the Microsoft Data & AI Bootcamp.
