AIAT Hosts the Annual Oxford Lecture

We were delighted to partner with the Oxford Society Australia and host the Annual Oxford Lecture in Adelaide. The 2024 Oxford Lecture was focused on the extraordinary life and legacy of Sir Walter Crocker (Oxon), a former Lieutenant-Governor of South Australia and one of Australia’s most distinguished diplomats. The lecture was delivered by his son, Dr. Robert Crocker (Oxon).

From humble beginnings on a small farm in Broken Hill to a global career in international relations and politics, Sir Walter’s journey is a testament to determination and excellence. The lecture outlined his rise to prominence, his days at Oxford and Stanford, his impact on world affairs, and the challenges he overcame to become a key figure in both the United Nations and Australian politics. In recognition of his public service, Queen Elizabeth made Sir Walter a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1955, and later elevated his status to Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 1978.

We thoroughly enjoyed organising this event together with the Oxford Society Australia, and we look forward to other similar engagements in the future.
